Australian songwriter, Peter FitzGerald was born April 11th 1962 almost two months premature and died twice in the next two weeks, in hindsight it was just another case of one steps forward, two steps back. Peter grew up constantly surrounded by music, his mother a talented multi-instrumentalist (Guitar/Piano/Piano Accordion) and grandmother was a piano teacher it was only natural that he would go into music.

Peter toured professionally playing in the 80’s keys the band “The Trap”, after many years on the road he ended up in Sydney where they recorded an album that was never released, though the single did get limited major metro radio airplay, with the song also being used in commercials (TV, Movie & Radio).

As is often the case, just when opportunity knocks the band disintegrated in best rock star fashion and peter exited the music industry. After many years as a commercial artist he returned to the music to find part of him self that was missing.

For me the part about song writing that I found most unsettling was the exposure. If nothing else song writing is almost total naked exposure, revealing your heart, soul, emotions, showing your innermost thoughts to the world, it can the most difficult for you and often upset any other people involved.

For me one of major issues was, as I was just another speck of dust in the cosmos what right did I have to expose to the world or so much of OUR private life (meaning anyone & everyone included in the songs) and even worse It's only FROM YOUR POINT OF VIEW, normally with no right of reply.

Taking that thought further, I would think that it is imposable to write sincerely from any other perspective than your own, even if you are putting yourself in to someone else's shoes, you would still see things from your perspective
